It is hard to believe that we are 22 weeks in to this ongoing set of posts and I haven’t had a themed playlist on grunge music. This is not going to feature the most popular grunge music of the decade but more the foot tapping, head nodding, personal favorites of mine. Just pure flannel shirt Seattle grunge music at it’s finest. I think I might be hard pressed to find ten different pure grunge artists for this list so I am going to break the rules a little bit for this one, and allow myself to include multiple songs from the same artist.

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE IS AWeSOME
BULLS ON PARADE IS THE BEST 90’s SONG
that person is rite rage against the machine is amazing
Yeah, what about the “Rage”, although, they weren’t technically “grunge”!! Were they.
Nirvana is pretty sweet.
And although “cliche”….
Nirvana made a huge impact on the music in the grunge genre.
Besides the well known hits, other songs are just a good.
KINGS X cant even get a mention? They hit in 86 with grunge and even Eddie Vedder said they invented grunge!
Also i think the person who made this list made it based on the Grunge songs he prefers. Although these are great song they are defiantly not the most popular Grunge songs of the the 90s.
Rage against the machine is not Grunge so why even mention it.
King X did not invent grunge. Eddie vedder said they were an influence.
If we had to break it down to who invented Grunge it would most likely be Neil young.
And id Kings X was popular in ’86 why would they be mentioned in a 90s list?
idc what anybody says nirvana is the best there ever was in grunge
ALICE IN CHAINS IS THE BEST OF GRUNGE!!!!! Layne Staley is the pure te’ KING of Grunge, and all of Rock n’Roll
Nirvana is a missed band. I’d do anything to bring Kurt Cobain back. 🙂
that is one of the best playlist of all time
no mention of mudhoney or (the melvins) makes this list completely incomplete… and STP is from san diego, dude. that’s like, the other side of the universe from seattle.
Am I missing something – where is Smells Like Teen Spirit?
Not only does that song define Grunge to me – it is one of my top 10 of the 90s.
I’m sure people will say that this is not pure grunge or that it is far too main stream – but its just a great 90s Song
I am sorry but Smells Like Teen Spirit does not belong in the top 50 songs of the 90’s. Nirvana was a very untalented band given the exception of Dave Grohl. Not to mention a lot of their songs sounded exactly the same.
Blast it if you will but I believe the best song of the 90’s was…
Shine – Collective Soul
what about Sunny Day Real Estate, Screaming Trees, or Mother Love Bone? there were other grunge bands beside nirvana, soundgarden, and the like!!
Erik you are for sure a F****** moron! You have no idea what musical talent is. Every single person who was in nirvana from the time they started till the time Kurt died were great musicians. Next time if you don’t know what your talking about keep your comments to yourself.
SMASHING PUMPKINS – BULLET WITH BUTTERFLY WINGS!!!
